Celebrating Volunteerism, Summer & Friends

Aeolian Hall and El Sistema volunteers recently celebrated the end of a successful Summer Season with a potluck event at the Hall. It was one of the last warm nights before Labour Day was the eve before the Fall art show was installed. While listening to Clark Bryan’s Debussy album guests dined on a divine variety of culinary treats and treasures – everything from Indian Butter Chicken to spicy barbecue meatballs to seasonal Ontario corn and tomato salad. The dessert table was also abundant. Fresh baked cakes, local fruit, homemade cookies, and even warm puddings made the evening quite the feast. Every palate was satisfied and nothing smells like Summer more than Ontario peaches.

To add to the enjoyment of the evening, recipe cards were collected and will be made into a Summer 2017 Aeolian volunteer cookbook to celebrate the occasion.

Mr. Bryan, Executive & Artistic Director gave words on behalf of the Hall and thanked the volunteers – his extended family for the last 14 years – for their considerable efforts, philanthropy and generosity. A few bottles of wine were definitely enjoyed while the volunteers got a sneak peak at the Fall Season poster collection and spent time chatting and relaxing with each other while Aeolian staff tended to their dinner needs. Naturally, when push came to shove, everyone seemed to rush to grab a bussing bin. Old habits die-hard.

We love our volunteers. They breathe life into Aeolian Hall. Volunteers are our family. The birth of every grandchild, every monumental success and life moment, every love and every loss, we experience it as if it were our own. Thanks to our family for the care they give, the time they take and the future they aspire to!

While we will enjoy many volunteer events between now and then, nothing is quite as sweet as the warmth of family and friends on a late summer’s eve.

“The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.”
