Join us in celebrating the life, songs and stories of one of Canada's greatest singer/songwriters - Stan Rogers. This special concert features Paul Mills (his producer and friend) playing Stan's guitar and singing his most memorable songs along with Anne Lederman (fiddle, vocal), Jack Cole (guitar, vocal), Brad Nelson (guitar, vocal), and Dan Patterson (bass, keyboards, guitar, vocal).
Stan Rogers was noted for his rich, baritone voice and his finely-crafted, traditional-sounding songs which were frequently inspired by Canadian history and the daily lives of working people, especially those from the fishing villages of the Maritime Provinces and, later, the farms of the Canadian prairies and Great Lakes. Tragically Stan died in an airplane fire at the age of 33 and Canada lost one of her great voices (Born: November 29, 1949 / Died: June 2, 1983). Covering his death, a Canadian Press story quoted Rogers as saying "I want to reflect my times and leave something behind the world can look at 100 years from now".
