Aeolian Song Writing Competition Winners Announcement

After an overwhelming response, the first annual Aeolian Songwriting Contest will come to an end with the announcement of the top three winners on Thursday June 9 at 5 p.m. on the Aeolian Hall stage. Media and guests are welcome to attend. The event will stream live on the Aeolian’s Facebook page.

Entries were judged by three Canadian singer-songwriters, including folk music legend and writer of the iconic “Rock and Roll Song” Valdy, Great Lake Swimmers singer Tony Dekker, and London-born, Los Angeles based writer and producer Andrea Wasse.

With the generous support of sponsors McFarlan-Rowlands Insurance Broker and D&S Pianos, the contest was created by Aeolian Executive & Artistic Director Clark Bryan.

“London should be proud to know that we had 162 submissions to the Aeolian’s first Annual Song writing Competition! The judges had a really challenging job with so many high quality submissions! With themes of home, love and London, the contest has cultivated a beautiful and rich repository of songs that I’m sure will make us proud to live in this UNESCO City of Music! We are thrilled to support our winners and help their careers. We are excited to share their craft and celebrate their creativity.”

Three winners will be announced. The grand prize winner will receive a cash prize of $2000, a professional recording of their song at Aeolian’s Ontario Trillium Foundation funded studios, a multitrack recording to be presented as part of the Aeolian Phoenix Sessions as well as marketing support and professional consultation related to branding and career development. Cash prizes, recording and marketing opportunities will be awarded to the second and third place songwriters.
