Aeolian Hall

The Aeolian is a Legendary and Historic Concert Hall.  With its main floor being flat, it has wonderful flexibility for a variety of events including concerts, socials, celebrations, dances, meetings, community events and more.  Besides the Main Hall, The Aeolian also offers a number of  unique venues/lounges and other spaces on its ground floor.  These spaces are more intimate and add flexibility to have smaller events.

Aeolian Hall

This Legendary and Historic Hall has seen some of the greatest legends in music grace its stage.  Names like Buffy Sainte-Marie, Chick Corea, The Vienna Boys Choir, The King’s Singers, Voces8, Daniel Lanois, Molly Johnson, Fred Hersch, Janina Fialkowska and so many more Grammy and JUNO winning artists have performed in this room.

Seating Capacity in full rows:  300 (241 on the main floor and 59 in the balcony.

Cabaret and mixed seating are also possible on the main floor.  Please contact us for seating plans.

Rental Rates:*

For-Profit Rental:

Daytime: Monday through Friday until 3 p.m.:

$185 per hour. Four hour minimum required.

Evening Monday through Thursday 3 p.m. till midnight:

$210/per hour.  Four hour minimum required.

Friday Evening and Weekend all day until midnight:

$250 per hour.  Four hour minimum required.

Holidays

$300 per hour, Four hour minimum required.

After Midnight:

$300 per hour

Non-Profit Rental:

$155 per hour. Four hour minimum required.

The Aeolian is known for its superb acoustics and has a wonderful sound system.

The Aeolian Hall is a world-class performing arts centre with a sound and light system designed to best express the unique sound qualities of the venue and its performers. In this space, less amplification results in a better quality sound for our patrons to enjoy.

AEOLIAN’S HOUSE SOUND & LIGHTING TECHNICIANS:

CHRISTOPH BABIN

Christoph has taught Live Audio and served as a technical maintenance technician at the Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology (OIART).  For over three decades he worked as a freelance live audio engineer for local production companies and touring bands.  His work has taken him into venues ranging in size from clubs and houses of worship to theatres and arenas.  Each upcoming show is a new delight for Christoph.  He loves cultivating the trust of artists to help them perform at their best.  Christoph is a foundational pillar in the success of Aeolian’s reputation as one of the best venues in Canada.

COLIN CALEB

Colin Caleb is The Aeolian’s expert in recorded audio, videography and also works in production as a live sound technician.
Colin has been a part of the musical fabric of London for over 20 years, in that time he has been both a free lance sound engineer and a DJ, at various London Clubs. In his spare time he is a volunteer at the W.E.A.N Community Centre and host to a podcast: Real Talk Straight Talk.  The podcast explores relevant issues in London’s Black Community.

D&S Lounge

 

Black velvet curtains create an intimate stage backdrop to our newest performance space   the D&S Lounge  This Lounge celebrates our relationship with D&S Pianos and all of the generosity they have given to The Aeolian and the El Sistema program over the past decade.  D&S pianos supports the 88 Keys to Inspiration program, helping get free pianos into the homes of children, youth and occasionally artists who couldn’t otherwise afford them.  The stage is graced with a vintage Steinway M piano that has been played by legends like Buffy Sainte-Marie. Theatre lighting, state of the art mixing console and speakers, a licensed bar and flexible seating are assets for this unique Heritage room.  Tall ceilings with unique lighting  and beautiful acoustics make this amazing space  intimate for a variety of events such as concerts, receptions, celebrations and meetings.

Southen Lounge

 

Thanks to the generosity of Dave Southen (a former Aeolian Board member), The Southen Lounge has had a great life for a number of years.  The Aeolian has presented concert series in this room and many community events such as Pride Socials make this a great meeting place.  The room has a season adjacent patio that seats about 40 and is absolutely magical with its courtyard gardens (additional charge for use of this space).  A beautiful Kawai Grand Piano adorns the stage with a backdrop of red velvet curtains. Theatre lighting, state of the art mixing console and speakers, a licensed bar and flexible seating are assets for this unique Heritage room.

Rebelheart Lounge

 

The Rebelheart Lounge reflects the branding of The Aeolian:

Definition: “one who possesses the desire to provide, promote and produce universal access to music, art and culture: a risk taker: a leader: a joyful soul.”  Origin:  The Aeolian

This Lounge includes a Baldwin Grand Piano and has tall ceilings that were once used along with a chimney to dry fire hoses from the trucks of Fire Station No.2.   The Station was housed in The Aeolian on the ground floor from 1885-1946. Theatre lighting, state of the art mixing console, and speakers,  and flexible seating are assets for this unique Heritage room.  It is a great room for meetings, socials or small concerts.

HOLD POLICY

A HOLD may be placed on any free date in the Aeolian Production Calendar. The HOLD is a reference point and does not guarantee your booking. You must confirm your HOLD within 48 hours to guarantee that you do not lose the date to another party. If the date is challenged by another potential lessee, every attempt will be made to notify you and you will be asked whether you can confirm the date. An event is confirmed only when a 50% deposit is made and a contract is signed. A 2nd or 3rd hold may be placed on the same date pending the decision of the 1st hold within the 48 hour time frame. In the case that the Aeolian needs the date for production, all holds will be forfeited to us.

BOX OFFICE & TICKETING

The Aeolian provides full Box Office services from 10 am till 6 pm Monday to Friday and one hour before showtime. Visa, Mastercard, Debit and cash sales are offered as well as online sales. Ticketing fees will be assessed as part of event settlement.

DISCLAIMER

All prices are subject to change. Prices quoted on the official signed contract will supersede website pricing. Aeolian Hall reserves the right to require a minimum number of rental hours. Additional charges may apply and will be discussed as part of the rental contract process. HST will be charged as required. Special Events Liability Insurance ($2 million) is required and is the sole responsibility of the renter. Proof of insurance will be required with signed contract to confirm the event booking.

CODE OF CONDUCT

We ask all who attend The Aeolian as an artist, patron, volunteer, staff, etc. adhere to The Aeolian Code of Conduct.

The Aeolian will not participate in or condone activities that discriminate on the grounds of: Age, Ancestry, Colour, Race, Citizenship, Ethnic origin, Place of origin, Creed, Disability, Family status, Marital status, Gender identity, Gender expression, Receipt of public assistance, Record of offences, Sex, Sexual orientation, or any other protected subjects covered under The Ontario Human Rights Code.

TECHNICAL SERVICES

Rental of sound and light technical services rental includes use of the house sound console, lighting board, and other technical equipment. We require the use of our Aeolian Hall Sound and Lighting Technician. Knowledge of the acoustic properties of our spaces and equipment is essential to the success of your event.

Other technicians who wish to use the Aeolian sound and light console must be approved by management. An Aeolian House Sound Technician must still be hired to supervise any guest technician.  Equipment must be left in the condition, place and settings it was found at the end of the event.

Not renting technical services infers that no service is required beyond turning on house lights. No changes to house lighting, use of sound equipment, or technical support will be provided.

CATERING

We offer you the greatest flexibility in choosing a caterer for your event. You are welcome to explore the culinary choices that best suit your event.

If you require assistance in choosing a caterer please contact us as we have experience with various caterers in the area. We will strive to find you the perfect match making your occasion unique and memorable. Aeolian Hall maintains a list of preferred caterers and reserves the right to decline access to some catering companies at our discretion. Event catering requires catering staff to be onsite before, during and after an event. Aeolian Hall will not be responsible for clearing and busing tables, stowing food, dishes or cookware, etc. Aeolian Hall cannot be held responsible for items lost or left behind by rental clients or their third party agents.

We want every event at the Aeolian to be successful and are willing to work with clients to achieve this goal. Each rental comes with a maximum of two hours of staff consulting time including hall tour, questions and policy/contract review.

6-10 Cups: $20.00

30-60 Cups: $80.00

60-100 Cups: $100.00

Prices do not include HST. Amount of cups depends on service size

MARKETING

Website: Our website gets thousands of hits each month and is continually growing in popularity. The website includes an event page with ticket information and artist web links.

Electronic Newsletter: The Aeolian sends out an electronic newsletter on a weekly basis to help market events. It has approximately 10,000 subscribers. This is not a guaranteed service and is not part of your rental fee. Please ensure that you are prepared to send us content for our newsletter including copy and images to expedite our inclusion of your event in the newsletter.

Online Ticket Sales: Online ticket sales reach regional audiences through Audienceview.com. Links to this service are provided by our website, email newsletter and print materials. Service charges apply for this service.

Printing Services: We provide poster printing services at an additional charge.
