The Black Hen Roadshow Vol. 4

The Black Hen Roadshow Vol 4 is a travelling revue, featuring four dynamite Canadian roots performers—Oh Susanna, Stephen Fearing, Catherine MacLellan and Steve Dawson—collaborating to present an unforgettable evening of diverse, yet satisfyingly cohesive, entertainment. The opening set showcases each headliner individually, with Liam MacDonald on drums, Jeremy Holmes on upright bass and guitarist Steve Dawson playing back-up. For the second set, the entire entourage comes together on stage … more songs, guitars, harmonies, banter, instrumental breaks, laughter … musical magic at its best!

The Roadshow tours every second year—each time featuring different headliners—and is the brainchild of multiple Juno Award-winner Steve Dawson, himself not only a highly sought-after producer, but also an in-demand performer on slide guitar, pedal steel and more. The Black Hen Roadshow Vol 4 offers an exceptional lineup, with each artist critically acclaimed, each with an impressive discography, and each  the recipient of numerous awards. Oh Susanna is gutsy and confident, with a voice that can pierce a heart of stone. She writes of love and longing, joys and pain, simple feelings and strong passions. Stephen Fearing, co-founder of the Canadian roots-rock supergroup Blackie & The Rodeo Kings, is an alluring teller of tales and a master guitarist, expansive and full of mirth. Like her father Gene (writer of Snowbird, a trademark hit for Anne Murray), Catherine MacLellan has a pure and comfortable—yet passionate—performance aura, such that she too speaks and sings straight to the soul. In short, “Each of these powerhouse performers has their own unique artistic voice, and having them all together on stage at once is guaranteed to be a breath-taking phenomenon.” Having proved very popular in Western Canada, this is the first time the acclaimed Black Hen Roadshow heads to Ontario … it’s a show you won’t want to miss!
