The “LIVES THROUGH” series is a new feature at The Aeolian. We are very excited and honoured to have Chuckee Zehr perform the inaugural concert giving tribute to the late great Janis Joplin. Chuckee Zehr is one of London’s leading women of blues. Her soulful voice often leads to requests of Janis Joplin’s music. When those requests come, Chuckee does not disappoint. This evening will be a celebration of both Janice Joplin and her influence on Chuckee’s own music and songwriting.
To say that Chuckee is versatile would be an understatement. She is multi-talented; multi-genre and a very dynamic and charismatic entertainer. Chuckee considers herself privileged to be able to connect with and entertain an audience.
Over the years, Chuckee has honed her arranging and recording chops, written and has received awards for her songwriting; acted in, co-wrote and scored several plays; she has collaborated with many artists both onstage and in the studio and has been nominated for and received music industry awards.
Chuckee won the opportunity twice, to go to Memphis and compete in the International Blues Competition where as a solo competitor, she reached the semifinals. She is the lead singer/songwriter and keyboardist with her Blues/R&B/Soul band Chuckee and the Crawdaddies and she is one half of the exciting piano duo Katfight Keys along with good friend Gail Selkirk, founding member of Major Hoople’s Boarding House. Chuckee is a classically trained pianist with a voice reminiscent of Janis and Etta and Aretha and she delivers a song with the emotion and passion that draws her audience close and keeps them asking for more.
