Keisha Christian is an engaging and compassionate singer from Barbados who has been singing from as far back as she can remember. Her intrigue for music was so pronounced that for her first birthday, her uncle bought her a Michael Jackson’s Thriller album. The young toddler was said to erupt in a gleaming excitement whenever she heard Michael’s music played.

At a tender age, she remembers constantly singing every song on that album as she walked around with the in-sleeve to memorize the lyrics. It’s no surprise that Keisha regards that album as one of her most treasured musical items. She credits Michael Jackson as one of her formative musical influences.

At the age of nine in 1992, she entered and won her first National Singing Competition, becoming the youngest at that time and also the first female contestant to ever win the competition. In 1993, she again stole the hearts of judges and patrons and was announced the winner for a consecutive victory in just her second year of competition. It was at this time, she started to become a household name on her native island.

In the following years, she became a part of the Caribbean SOCA alumni, performing and recording several songs in that genre, and was successful in achieving recognition and major airplay throughout the Caribbean Diaspora. In 2006, she won a Barbados Music Award, (an event that honors those in the music industry.)

She has represented her country Barbados for engagements in New York, the United Kingdom and Beijing China.

Keisha has long admired artists like Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Prince, Frank Sinatra, Lauryn Hill, Michael Buble, Jill Scott, and Sade, just to name a few. They inspired her in her quest for excellence. They were a beacon of light for artists like her, especially coming from the experience of living in the Caribbean.

She embraces this quote: “You may encounter many defeats but must not be defeated.” (MAYA ANGELOU)
